Modern Hospital Rising Soon in Victorias

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) aimed at establishing a modern hospital in Victorias City will be signed by the Government of Victorias and Memphis Mission of Mercy at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 9.

The proposed medical health facility will help provide advanced and state of the art modern technology beneficial to the people of Victorias and surrounding communities and other parts of the region.

Calatrava, Bago, Negros Stallion Dominate Cinco De Nobyiembre Relay

Calatrava, Bago City Road Runner, and Negros Road Stallion dominate the 17-Under, Open, and Executive categories respectively in the Cinco De Nobyiembre Marathon Relay that started in Barangay Tortosa, Manapla town yesterday.

Calatrava dominated the 17U group at 2 hours, 31 minutes and 58 seconds. They were followed by Maravilla (2:34.19), while Victorias City settled for third place (2:34.40).

The month of November has been designated as Drug Abuse Consciousness Month. The Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. and the Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Center, Victorias City has scheduled the following events in their Demand Reduction Campaign.

1. November 6, 2017: PAADAC (Provincial Action Against Drug Abuse Council Affair in Murcia participated by NODRC Administrator Ms. Juvy Pepello and Recovery Coach Jolly Grace Deocadez.

The Victorias City-based Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. (NODRFI) and its Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Center (NODRC) also known as “Ang Dalangpan|, conducted a community outreach program to highlight the Drug Abuse Consciousness Month of November.

Man Shot Dead in Own House

A man who went home after a fistfight with his relative was shot dead inside his residence around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Bucio, Barangay 11, Victorias City.

Superintendent German Garbosa, Victorias PNP chief identified the victim as Eric Dione Abayon, 36, married.

He sustained a gunshot wound on his body and died on the spot, police report said.

The suspect was identified as Raul Abayon Cordero, of legal age, also resident of the place. He fled after the shooting.

The Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. (NODRFI) and the Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Center (NODRC) and the City of Victorias in partnership with Colombo Plan and Dangerous Drug Board will hold a free 3-day live-in Seminar on Drug Reduction on November 21-23, 2017 at Gawahon Eco-Park in Victorias.

A team of training specialists on drug prevention control from the Dangerous Drugs Board will tackle a 7-module program on universal prevention curriculum on substance use in the span of three days.

John Rey Hilado, 27, single, of Sitio Cubay, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, temporarily residing in Barangay Capitan Sabi, Barangay Zone 5, Talisay was riding a Honda XRM 125 registered to Satnam Singh when intercepted in a checkpoint by Victorias PNP.

A man who tried to pacify his friend having altercation with another man was stabbed, along with another person from the other group in Estado, Barangay 10, Victorias City at 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Police Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias City police chief identified the victims as Ricarte Sonita Sabala, 34, married, of Hacienda Maria, Barangay 10, Victorias. He sustained stab wounds on his upper left rib and back.

3 Drug suspects nabbed in Victorias buy bust

Three drug suspects were arrested by Victorias City Police and City Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) in a buy bust operation around 6:30 p.m. Monday at Carmen Street, Canetown Subdivision, Barangay 19-A in the city.

Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias City police chief identified the suspects as Sherwin Altamer Higino, 28, single, the No. 4 drug personality in Victorias City; Cristine Montesclaros Diaz, 38, single; and Joel Perla Villa, 45, married, all of Carmen Street, Canetown Subdivision, Barangay 19-A, Victorias City.

Victorias resident drowns

A resident of Victorias City was drowned in Sitio Bonco, Barangay 11, Victorias City around 6:45 a.m. Monday.

Police Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias police chief identified the victim as Judel Perez Javellana, 36, of Sitio Cansilayan, Barangay 11, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

The victim’s cadaver was found lying face down on the rocks in the middle of a creek in Kinaruyan Gamay which has an estimated distance of 17 kilometers from the police station.

He was brought to Jaruda/Manapla Funeral Homes in Victorias City for post mortem examination.

A resident of Victorias City, Negros Occidental was shot dead by unidentified suspect when he went out of his house around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday in corner Mercedes-Angeles Streets, Canetown Subdivision, Barangay 19-A, Victorias City.

Police Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias PNP chief identified the victim as Roque Casumpang De La Torre, 43, single, also resident of the place.

He sustained gunshot in the head and died on the spot.

The unidentified suspect escaped from the crime scene.

Two of the three suspected drug personalities were arrested by Victoria City police in a buy bust operation at Lopez Subdivision, Sikatuna Street, Barangay 3, Victorias City, Negros Occidental around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Superintendent German Garbosa, Victorias PNP OIC chief identified the suspects as Jose Dangcasil Ansuyon, “Alias Joe”, 54, married, of the place and Marvin Viloria Dioso, 23, single, of Villa Victoria, Barangay13, Victorias. The two were newly identified drug personalities.

Another weekend of competitive football awaits the hundreds of aspiring booters and enthusiats when the Victorias Kadalag-an Football Festival kicks off on March 17, 2018 at the Don Bosco Technical Institute football grounds.

This event, organized by the 2007-2008 Parents Football Team, is bankrolled by Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca and SP Member Abelardo Bantug III in cooperation with Don Bosco-Victorias and Coach Reymando Baldava.

Moreover, the one-day event is part of the city’s 20th Kadalag-an Festival.

2 Nabbed in drug bust in Victorias

Two drug personalities in Victorias City were arrested in Bandong Village, Barangay 7 around 2:45 p.m. Monday.

Police Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Victorias PNP chief identified the suspects as John Rey Monegro Panisa, 38, single, of the place and Dennis Borres Jabaque, 23, single, of Fermont Village, Barangay 7, Victorias.

Confiscated from them were one small heat sealed suspected shabu as buy bust item from Panisa, one medium heat, one open heat sealed sachets of suspected shabu, one cellular phone, P400 marked money and P260 cash.

Top collegiate schools in the province are vying for the top honors in the 3rd Mayor Wantan Palanca Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament at the Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV) covered court in Victorias City.

The 2-day event will be led by CSAV Titans – the reigning Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association men’s champions, alongside multi-titled NOPSSCEA STI-West Negros University Mustangs, La Consolacion College Bacolod Blue Panthers and the University of St. La Salle Stingers.
